Shooting in Manual

Understanding Aperture:
1. We closely relate how the aperture works to how the human eye works.
2. The smaller the aperture the larger the f-stop, so the larger the aperture the smaller the f-stop.
3. When you use a larger aperture the background becomes blurrier and differs from the foreground more.  However when you use a smaller aperture the whole picture will be focused.

Shutter Speed:
fast shutter speed
slow shutter speed
1.1 Sun is still up
  A.  Slow shutter speed for a booth in the middle of the courtyard
  B.  Slow shutter speed for a food booth outside
  C.  Fast shutter speed for silver star performance in the gym
  D.  Fast shutter speed for students dancing in the courtyard
  E.  Fast shutter speed for people streaming in through front doors
  F.  Fast shutter speed for students shooting basketballs

1.2 Sun went down
  A. Slow shutter speed for booth in the middle of the courtyard (maybe flash)
  B. Slow shutter speed for food booth outside (maybe flash)
  C. Fast shutter speed for silver stars in gym
  D. Fast shutter speed for students dancing outside (with flash)
  E.  Fast shutter speed for students streaming in through doors
  F.  Fast shutter speed for basketball booth (with flash)
2.
When you shoot in aperture priority you set the aperture yourself and the camera sets the shutter speed.  When you shoot in shutter speed priority you set the shutter speed yourself and the camera sets the aperture.  When you shoot in manual you set both the aperture and the shutter speed yourself.  When you shoot in automatic the camera chooses both the aperture and the shutter speed.

ISO:

1. The benefits of using a high ISO at a baseball game or nighttime football game are that it will not only allow more light into the photo but it will stop action.
2.  Its always best to try and shoot in the lowest ISO however it will not always be possible because it will cause some shots to blur.
3.  You should use a higher ISO when in low lighting situations.
