On this website I looked at a collection of photos by Christin Richter a german fine art architecture photographer. After the reunification of Germany many buildings in his area became abandoned, so he decided to explore these buildings later coming back to focus on them and shoot pictures of them. One thing he continued to discover in these buildings was spiral stair cases which he liked to shoot from above looking down, they are now one of his main focuses.
From this website I learned that you can use patterns and shapes in buildings to create illusions.
