Hard News Practice: Huntington Story

On Wednesday, March 10th around 10 pm, 53 year old Janice Jones was transported to the Huntington Beach Hospital in California due to a strange injury. She had been shot by her dog.  The Pomeranian named Tombo knocked Jones's 9 mm hand gun off of a seat causing the weapon to discharge and shoot through Jones's leg.
The dog was taken to the Huntington Beach Animal Control center where the officers accessed the Pomeranian's condition, "When we checked on Tombo we discovered he was malnourished. We also found fresh cigarette burns on his forehead," animal control officer Janet Ngo told us.
Jones is facing several possible charges, "officers cited Jones for her expired license plates and they're debating whether or not to charge her in relation to the gun because she didn't have a permit for the gun," stated press liaison Tammy Rye.
As well as the charges related to the accident the Huntington Beach Animal Control center is looking into charges against Jones for the harm done to her dog. "My office will be looking into filing animal abuse charges against her," stated Ngo.
